Wheel spacers added by factory

Last year I ordered a 2008 C4S Cab with the Carrera Sport wheels. I wanted the wider wheels (8.5x19 front and 11.5 x 19 rear). When the car came in it had the correct "looking" wheels but it had wheel spacers on the rear wheels. The spacers look like 15 or 17mm, about 3/4 inch in thickness. There is no mention of spacers on the build sheet and the salesman has no idea why they are on there. The only spacers you could order were 5mm.

He checked with the person that orders the cars and was told "in 07 & 08 some times when they were building the cars, the "correct width wheels were not available and they would add the spacers to bring the track to the published width" I think that answer is ridiculous. I asked them to contact PAG to get an answer.
Have any of you ever heard of this happening on a special order car?

If I remember correctly the Carerra Sport only come with narrow body offset in the rear (67mm). In order to get the proper fitment on the widebody, Porsche adds a 17mm spacer to get to an effectve 50mm offset. Most of the other Porsche wheels come in both narrow body and widebody offsets unfortunately the Carerra Sport does not.

That is correct, Keninirvine has them on his car with the same wheels.

Gotta say .... it's corner-cutting stuff like this (and turbo twists that twist backward on the right side of the car ) .... that bodes poorly for Porsche.
Having said that .... the C SII wheels for 09 are now 51 offset for the widebody ... i.e. they addressed the issue (but they still could use spacers ).

Correct. And I already answered the same post on Rennlist (sorry, Ed, I know you don't like me frequenting that site).

Note to OP and some others: It may be best to post a question on one forum at a time. If you don't get an answer on the first one, then try the second one.
