thanks for all the replys. I made my decision last night and finalized the deal.
07 997.1 4S with 10k miles basically fully loaded, CPO, for 65k.

Would agree that 997.2 might be a better car, but economic times are tough, and it's hard to justify spending an extra 20k for the car. To get it optioned correctly, I'm thinking it would come in at 95k so assuming a 5-10% discount, 85k seems like a reasonable estimate. Personally I agree with one of the earlier posters that every time I pinch pennies I regret it in the future, but in this case it's not a couple hundred bucks or even a couple thousand.... it's 20-25k. Also, I'll have to put my 2 year old in the back periodically and I'm less likely to care if he messes up the interior in a 65k car than an 85k car.

anyway, thanks again

Dave

unfortunately I do need this as a DD, I'm in the process of consolidating cars. Just sold my Lotus Elise.

Dave - congrats, you made a great decision! If you need any tips on car seats for your two year old, PM me or do a search under my name to find a thread where I posted some pictures. I have 1 and 4 year old girls and they love going out in the car with me!
