08' 997S burning over 1 quart of oil daily?!?

i have a 08' 997S with only 10k miles on it and it seems to be burning a lot of oil. Their is some oil coming out of my left exhaust only, mostly smoke from the oil but i noticed some splatter on my garage floor. There is also a loud ticking sound coming from the motor when the oil gets low but it goes away when i add a quart, which i have to add daily. Also i noticed a light brown liquid splattered on the inside of the oil cap, not sure if it has to do with the burning oil.

My car has an evo intake and softronic ecu, i do not race it, but i do get on it occasionally.

any ideas what this could be???

Does not sound normal. My suggestion.....take it to the dealer.

The intake will most likely not be the cause of what you are describing. Not sure about the software, but my guess is that it is not the culprit. You could always do a re-flash since you have softronic and see if that remedy's the problem. If not, you could then take it to the dealer and they won't blame it on the ecu flash.

These cars do burn oil to an extent, but not a quart a day and the smoke and oil splattering you describe does not seem normal.

Hope you get it solved soon.

i am used to the car burning some oil maybe a quart evry 1k-2k miles, but i know this isnt right. Im just wondering if this is a common problem and im curious what it could be.

Im thinking it could be a gasket because the residue on the inside of the oil cap might be antifreeze in my oil. Or im thinking it could be something with the valves or a lifter because of the ticking noise. Nothing came up when i ran the engine diagnotsic test either.

It does not sound like anything to do with your mods, return it to stock and go to the dealer. Given that you have a oil on one side of the exhaust and the noise I would suspect valve trouble.

goes without saying that if you'll need to reflash prior to a dealer visit or you can kiss your warranty goodbye.

sounds like you will need to be doing that pretty soon, as this is not normal engine behavior

I wouldn't drive it until you get it looked at by the dealer. The mods you have are extremely benign. But what's going on isn't good- return car to stock and get it to the dealer asap.

There have been a # of good threads on oil consumption and any way you look at it a qt. every 1-2k is excessive on a late model. With that said I'd evaluate my relationship with my dealer's service manager; if reasonable then talk to him NOW without messing around with the reflash. I have to agree with Cattman for the 2nd time in the last 15 minutes - I would not even start the car up!

If you're seeing blue smoke it's a physical issue (rings, valve guides, ???)... I'd get to the dealer ASAP if it were mine

Well this isnt looking good for me , hopefully it shouldnt be nothing too big. But since the car does drive normal, I should be able to make it to the dealership. Now the hard part is waiting for it to get fixed.

To nitro911: From your thread starter one would conclude that your car has not been "mistreated". If one reads your previous posts over the past several months there's a strong aroma of BS in the air, either now or earlier.

to tejoe: well if one would assume that your investigating me so u could talk s**t on my thread (again) instead of helping..... then one would conclude that ur a a-hole with a lot of time on your hands.

Just because it is drivin hard doesnt mean it is mistreated, but thats a whole nother thread... I am asking a question because i am obviously in a bad situation. i have had numerous responses from other members, in which everyone has been very helpful (thank you guys btw) but theres no reason for you to make rude comments and try to knock the thread of course.

Play nice, boys. That's neither here nor there.

Bottom line, Nitro911s: get your car to the dealership ASAP. If it were my car, I'd have it towed there on a flatbed.

I am going to assume you'll follow this advice, and post an update from the dealer tomorrow.
