I am not in that situation but have seen it happen countless times . There are so many high end used cars for sale as a result of the recent economic meltdown . I saw it happen after the dot com demise too. Usually cars the the first luxury item to go when people hit the panic button finacially.

I am just glad that I bought mine in 2007 and the M3 in 08 . The money was taken out of the stock market investments to pay cash for the cars . I would not have been able buythese cars (plus mod the Turbo) for nearly the same cost . I still would have bought it but might have considered a used Turbo . Plus the mods on my car cost nearly as much as the car itself . I am very glad that I did the bulk of the purchasing THEN instead of now.

Have you ever lost a car in a divorce ? I know we walk around talking about depreciation but factor a relationship and one can place a whole new spin on it.

Never sell a car to save a relationship . if things are not working out you'll break up anyway . Not that breaking up is a bad thing . It's actually a step forward toward growth and can be quite liberating .
