The nice thing about the 09's is you can get the "*** vaccuum" ventilated seats, which should help keep the peace driving home after a night out at the local taqueria..

 

The main culprits are the phthlates used in plastics, the formaldehyde in the leather and the brominated aromatics used as flame retardant in the seat cushions. Some people are highly sensitive (allergic) to these compounds - others won't notice them. Your wife may be hypersensitive to these chemicals

All of them are present in virtually everything we buy. Ever smell a foul odor coming from a new mattress? - it's the brominated fire retardant, which was improperly applied. Ever drink a diet drink with aspartame that doesn't taste sweet? - it's because the aspartame has broken down and one of the decomposition products is formaldehyde (a known liver carcinogen). Phthlates, which are ubiquitous and (everyone of us have them in our bodies due to exposure), can cause hormonal changes (they have even been postulated as the reason why are children are reaching puberty at an earlier age).
