By itself the X51 intake probably won't add much in hp but does wonders for eye candy. It is a factory piece that does require that you cut a new intake inlet on the opposite side of the rear deck lid. In combination of exhaust (full exhaust..headers, cats and mufflers) it probably will aid in hp production. The cost of the intake for a factory piece I find very appealing especially when you consider that Carbonio and such make carbon fibre intakes that start in the $1300-$3k range while the X51 intake can be had for just over $1k.

The x51 airbox is nice - doesn't the x51 also have a different intake manifold/plenum too to take advantage of the airbox?

Yes it does have a different plenum/manifold..but you don't need to do those if you just want the airbox.

Love my X51 airboox, But I only know it's there when I look in the engine bay I just threw in some BMC filters to replace the stock paper filters and noticed a bit more sound. Although in doing so I put a nice scratch in the clear coat of the CF Luckily it's not noticeable when when the box is in place.
