Why so little love for the Sport Chrono?

I have read many of the archived posts on the Sport Chrono package, and it seems to take a lot of heat from you guys.

However, I absolutely love my SC when I get in the hills and twisties. Give me some tight roads, a few hills and my SC maps....and I have a smile a mile wide!

I guess I would have a hard time justifying the price on a new car, as I believe the 997 should drive like this without an expensive option. My car came with it, and I love it.

I think that most people hate the "wart" on the dash.

I track my car a lot, and have yet to use the timing portion of the SC package.

I have it. Never use it except for the kind of cool illumination on the dash at night.

If we had TT's - the story would be different. Overboost FTW!

i actually used it for the first time at an autocross yesterday. it was novices only, so no timing beams and I wanted to keep track of my progress through the runs. even then though it's annoying to use ...

The lap monitoring feature of SC is secondary. What you pay for is a new engine mapping and different PSM control. This is very important on 997 Turbos and 997.2 PDK.

PAG should offer the option in 2 parts - software only and chronograph features separately. Who knows? They could even charge more on both separate items.

I use all 3 parts of SC. I use the light at night, I use the stopwatch to time my day trips and I love the remapped throttle response. Again, the mapping should be stock IMO.

they should've tied it to the gps somehow and all user needs to do is press something for start/finish. something like traqmate. that would have been awesome. as it is, forget about using it at the track.

H-MAN is infamous around these parts
I always take alternate routes from A to B and I use mine frequently to time my new quick routes. I think it would be a bit cumbersome to actually activate while lapping.

I worked on a RT12 a while back and what Ruf did was put a boost gauge in there instead of the stop watch, thought that was awesome.

I like mine. That light feature is quite nice.

It's imperative in the 997.2 PDK .
It's important on the 997tt for resale UNLESS one uses software to program .
It's personal opinion on the 997S and I liked it .

I like the wart too . It looks beautiful to me .

I also feel it has a function and even if one buys it and never uses it he still has a choice . It's absence may effect resale .

I see a car with no wart .. automatic psychological depreciation .

I used to call it the wart, now I call it a beauty mark - hey, that's what falling in love will do to a guy...

Much like
half empy = half full
partly sunny =partly cloudy

Multiple truths can describe the same reality.

This is probably a stupid question, but how do you get the SC gauge to illuminate?

Start the timer. Lights probably have to be on as well.
