Do diesels (except the very latest ones) even have PCV? they are exempt from smog checks, so I imagine they just vent freely.

SOme diesels use PCV's and some use Crankcase Depression Regulator (CDR) valves. This is to maintain a vaccuum in the crank case, providing there isn't any blow by. Mine vents to atmosphere not a reburn like gas jobs.

There is no problem with the new engines at all!

Can one person come forward that has a problem with an 09 DFI.
I would like to hear it from an actual owner, instead of speculation.

P119. Ask mdrums about his soot issue. don't know if it is a different issues but I know mdrums is not happy about the situation.

This thread simply raised the question re 9A1 engines. It is a problem in Cayenne's DFI engines, Audi's VW's and others. Raising awareness is a good thing. no one is implying the problem exists in the 9A1 - chances are, given its late design and boxer architecture there is no issue.

Yes very true. My soot is showing a lot easier because I have the side muffler by pass and the soot is not getting caught by the restrictive side mufflers. When I took my side mufflers off I could pour soot out of them!

Nice huh? Yeah this car is NOT an everyday car to drive...I forsee too many issues.

If you were able to poor the soot out of the side cans then it sounds like it was not oil based...correct?
