DFI engine issue?

SOme diesels use PCV's and some use Crankcase Depression Regulator (CDR) valves. This is to maintain a vaccuum in the crank case, providing there isn't any blow by. Mine vents to atmosphere not a reburn like gas jobs.

This thread simply raised the question re 9A1 engines. It is a problem in Cayenne's DFI engines, Audi's VW's and others. Raising awareness is a good thing. no one is implying the problem exists in the 9A1 - chances are, given its late design and boxer architecture there is no issue.
"mdrums" is having nasty black soot issues with his '09S...

Nice huh? Yeah this car is NOT an everyday car to drive...I forsee too many issues.
Yes very true. My soot is showing a lot easier because I have the side muffler by pass and the soot is not getting caught by the restrictive side mufflers. When I took my side mufflers off I could pour soot out of them!

If you were able to poor the soot out of the side cans then it sounds like it was not oil based...correct?

The problem of the intake valve gunk in the Cayenne is that it stays there; it does not progress to the exhaust, and if it did it would combust. I do not think mdrums soot is the same thing, but let's see what he finds.
