My C4S arrived at the dealer...
By the time you get used to the car it will be warm enough for the tires. Easter is the "magic" time to take snow tires off anyway. Take it easy in the morning until the frost is off the ground and you'll be fine. AWD certainly helps.
As far as the wheels go, I would be more than happy to slip you into something more comfortable. Perhaps a set of OZ Ultraleggera?

These are 20's, but I have in 19" as well and in silver.
Enjoy the car in good health.

Actually I didn't order the car this way. My dealer located couple of guard red C4S and recommended this one due its unique interior. I took the chance and very happy with my decision. You guys are right, the wheels just does not do it for me. Are you the same H-Man from www.mbworld.org?

I have a Guards Red C4 with several interior bits painted. It really dresses up an otherwise bland interior. If you don't like the wheels, swap them now or they will bug you every time you look at the car. Personally, I have the Turbo wheels for summer and think they look good on the car. As for driving, you should have no worries. The inflection point where summer tires are superior to snows is about 40 degrees. I'm taking my snow rims and tires off this weekend. And PS2s are great in the rain too. Go get the car.
Drive my C4S all winter in Indiana on the PS2's and have had no problems. Admittedly I don't drive it on snow or ice covered roads but in the cold on dry pavement it's fine. Might not suggest it without the all wheel drive though.
Thanks guys. The dealer will swap out the wheel with the Carerra S 5 split spokes wheels, and I will pick up the car next wednesday or saturday just to be save. Plus this weekend being Easter it could be busy around the house. Before the winter hits, I will buy a set of snow tire/wheel from Tirerack. The C4S should do better in snow than my E55 with snow tires.
H-MAN, I had a 2001 CLK55(preowned) for couple of years and I love the that coupe. I am just glade to be back in a coupe and no more 4 door sedan
For major family hauling we will take the GL450, or the oldie but goodie 2001 E55.
I also ordered the Porsche child booster seat to go with the new ride. Now I only hope Porsche will be as reliable or better than my experience with Mercedes.

I agree with the comment on the tires/weather. I have had my car back on the road since March 1st with colder weather than NY and have had no issues. Obviously you don't want to push the car too hard though - plus I assume you car will be driven carefully for the break in period. Great looking car. Best wishes!

One note...I believe your wheels are an option, so if you swap back to standard Carrera S wheels, you should negotiate at least a partial credit. My car had black lobster forks from the factory and I swapped to the base Carrera IIIs, and received a credit. I then took them off and bought Turbo rims and tires and now use the 18s for winter.
I agree - nice car, but go with the standard (for an S model) Carrera S II wheels - much more agressive looking.
I have a question regarding the Carerra S wheels. The front between the C4S and CS has the same offset but the rears are different. For the C4S split spoke wheel has the offset of 51 but the Carerra S's split spoke has offset of 67. My dealer is planning to put on the Carerra S wheels on my car. Will the wheels stick out or just fill the fender?

I would run the 5 spoke for a a while and when you get ready to move to HRE or Champion or whatever is your taste, put the snow tires on the 5 spoke. Then you wont have three sets of rims and tires. Those 5 spoke will be easy to keep clean in the winter as well. Plus your car will look great even in the winter months. The cheap winter wheel and tire combos always look like crap. I should know, I have a set.
