Hate my Carrera Sport Wheels

I have an '08 997S, Meteor Gray with Black interior and OEM Carrera Sport wheels. I'm not a fan of the Carrera Sports - especially with Meteor. IMO they are too retro and, despite the name, aren't all that sporty. I'm looking to replace them but every wheel that I like (HRE P40, Techart Formula, Rinspeed) costs more than my monthly mortgage payment. I'm looking to spend no more than $3k on the set and hoping to stick with 19"s so that I can use my existing tires (only 3k miles on them) and TPMS monitors.

Any suggestions? Also, any ideas as to the value of my Carrera Sports? They are in mint condition with no scratches or curb rash.

Thanks

I've actually got to disagree with you, those wheels are hot. If you wanna change it up a bit and really save some coin, I've seen those wheels in black on meteor and it looked so good. I've also seen it color matched, just a thought

I like those wheels as well, your car lowerd w/ paint to match.....hot! But, if you really want a change, OZ has some nice stuff in your price range.

I have those wheels on my '08 C4S in Meteor and love them, but it is obviously a matter of personal taste. You are the one that has to be happy with how your car looks.

I remember a time when steel wheels w/ hubcaps were the stock wheels on all cars. Aftermarket rims/tires was a must asap. Nowadays, the stock rims on most cars have almost the same look and quality of aftermarkets, IMO. I've looked into other rims, but can't justify the expense for a slight change in looks/quality over what I currently have. Just my opinion. Maybe in a few years just to make it "new again". Anyway, I like your rims, and how your car looks, but if you don't that's what matters...good luck.

+1 Dino, I thought tyt if they were painted black that they would look a lot better. The other option is to contact Wheel Enhancement about a trade in. The final idea is to watch the classifieds and look for wheels that you might like, then sell yours.

Thanks for the responses. When I bought the car, my salesman told me that I was the first customer that he had that disliked the Carrera Sports. The sales manager with ordering responsibility had been ordering just about every 911 and Cayman equipped with them because of the favorable response. I'm not a fan of black wheels - I guess the one thing positive about them is that they'll do a great job hiding brake dust. I've been keeping my eye on the classifieds. Hopefully something good will pop up. If anyone is interested in a trade, PM me.

These are 11.5 with a 305 in the back. All other OEM Porsche wheels will be an 11 with a 295. They're beautiful and they're GT silver.

I agree with you . I don't like them either . The P40 is lighter , stronger, and better looking. The "brished" looks great on meteor.

You will have no problem selling these wheels as they are very popular with 997 guys. As mentioned above they are 11.5 and fit a 305 series in the back. Sell these and get what you prefer. Could always paint them black. I always get a lot of compliments on mine.

I really like the Carrera Sport wheels.

I have the Sport Designs which IMO don't really look all that great. Kept them for track wheels.

To be honest, I haven't given any real thought to selling them because I haven't found replacements that I love that aren't going to cost $4k or more. What's the going rate for these? They are like new.

I would sell my Turbo wheels for 2K so they have to be close .
The problem with selling wheels is shipping --sounds like a headache .

Have to agree with the OP, never liked the sport wheel.
