Alright, here is another article on Torque and LWFW. This seemes like a good article with a Dyno chart showing some of the differences. Just trying to get some the "mis" out of the information. Cat is right. It is an APPARENT change in torque on the front end but the dyno chart does not lie. The LWFW pulls harder over the whole of the curve. Just like Cat was saying.

Cache is not the word... energy storage is. Do I sense a CS background?

Batteries
Capacitors
Superconducting coils
Flywheels
Water dams
Pressurized containers

are examples of storage devices. All, with perhaps the exception of a water dam, can be used in a KERS (kinetic Energy Recovery System) and yes, a hybrid like the Prius is a KERS.

And yes, background in cs, physics and stats. I'm a recovering weener turned business guy.
The KERS(tm) I was referring to was specifically the GP one. But I again agree that the Prius Synergy Drive(tm again) is another form of k.e.r.s (no tm).
But the reason I was yammering on was that articulating the principal of the LWFW thingie makes it much easier to predict and understand it's effects. It just seems a lot better than the often, 'This is what it will do' comments.
BTW, if I keep my car long enough, and I hopefully will, I will surely go the lwfw, lsd, upgraded clutch route. I'd really like to try one first, but the results are, well, predictable.

Cheers adias... it's still my favorite mod to an NA Porsche. Just like the good old days when all of them had single mass flywheels I think on the video I was aware I was being filmed and I honestly wasn't being "aggressive" either

Actually the 997.2 is a great deal because you can order the LSD with the sport pasm for only $950 if I read the configurator correctly. I think the best price for the Quaife I found was like $1700 and then the install. If I decide to get out of the lease of this vehicle and buy it I am definitely going down this route. Can't wait for that neat paper weight I know you did the LWFW along with the diffy at the same time but what was the total hours for the R&R of the 2 units?

Excellent reference. It really establishes the key proof points. Thank you.

I was under the impression that the LSD was $2500 (US) from Porsche, but at $950 it sounds like a automatic option for everyone...To bad the extra $30000 -$40000 to upgrade from a 997.1 to 997.2 has to be incurred.

I bought my LSD for $895 new, most likely from the same guy selling them for $1700, first one to buy from him and then realized they were too cheap. I was billed for about 8 hours of labour to do both the LSD and LWFW, plus a new RMS ($35) and a few other little things. All in I think it was about $3000 (Canadian) for the parts and install.

This labor cost reference is very helpful. Additionally, does anyone happen to know, once you 'have the patient open', what is incremental labor cost of also installing a LWF and (maybe) a new clutch? Just trying to assess the total hit.

That was the cost for both. I could have done a new clutch, but I had lots remaining.

05-08, a LSD was not available. It comes with an open diff, that transfer the energy with the least amount of resistance.
