Shopping - C2S - 2006 or CPO 2005?
I found the 997 to be better behind the wheel. I thought it had superior handling, steering feedback and responsiveness. While not as fast as the 996TT I feel I am more engaged in using and maximizing the performance of the 997 C2S versus the 996TT. A vastly superior interior and modern/classic exterior was also a big plus.
The 997 was just a major stride.
You are the MAN! Well, up to 68k is over the limit - I look to 60k figuring 55k is in reach. But you never know!
What they ask for and what they close are often very different with Porsches . 68K asking price can easily dip to 59 etc.. and that was my upper limit in the search.
It was interesting that the push up a little bit really added a ton of really nice '06 and even '07 S's. I notice one speed yellow car with a motivated owner that looked really nice. I was just reading about the cost of the PSE. I'd love to find a car with one. But I'm really only set on sport chrono and sport seats as "must have" options.
There's 90 cars . Our taste may be different with options/color . So you pick it and I'll comment. I liked a lot of cars on that list. The speed yellow I did not . Here's why -
1) Speed yellow is a bad resale color and it's over priced for a non CPO car.
2) no ssport chrono
3) doesn't list Bose either
4) despite all his encouraging words on car care he admits blemishes.

Thanks much, I've seen that car. They had the car listed for $70k and they've dropped the price. I really doubt I would get that car to 55.
How about the private C4S with the PSE?

Really depends how long a car has been listed. I agree with you on Speed yellow. Here is the other one:

The other silver car . Let them ask whatever they want . It's what you offer that matters . If you walk .. they lost .. not you . This is the case with all car sales .. the customer is number 1.

I doubt it too, but 60-61 is a reasonable target and a phenomenal deal, I think, a really great low mileage car and option list and right up the road from you. As Larry intimated earlier, if this is out of your range right now then perhaps it's better to wait another month or two and save another $5K rather than just "buy something". I'll guarantee that Porsche prices aren't going up the next 4months.

Tejoe -- I think they will break 61K on an 07 especially in his region which has 90 cars in a 100 mi radius. I think it will be above 55 but less than 61. Florida and California seraches had less cars although the Midnight blue one in Naples Fl with those high priced mods looked really good.

FWIW
i bought my 07 C4S with 10k miles for 65k with CPO, so IMHO, the 06 even at 65k seems overpriced. My car was well equiped with PSE, sports chrono, ***, full leather, new turbo wheels and tires, etc.....

Thanks for the intell and thanks for kicking my *ss in terms of asking for what I want. It's a give and take in Greenwich - they have lots of cars, but have lots of rich, ignorant people that will pay. I know some of these guys have had cars sitting on their lots for long time.
I may try the spin of offering to pay $1k over what they are into the car for...

No matter how much wealth a region may have people in general have given more thought to high end car purchases. That's why the used market has picked up but even that can be flat . Your region has a lot of cars and it's a buyers market . Make any dealership (or private sale) your offer and leave them your phone number if they let you walk and say next......
The one who holds the cards is the person who writes the check . It is not unreasonable to offer 57.8 K on a car that's listed for 65K and if they decline theres always another seller who might accept .
