ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, today announced May sales in the U.S. of 1,979 units compared to the same period last year when it sold 2,796 new cars.

While Porsche’s sales this May represent a decrease of 29 percent from the same time last year, the company has recorded continued month-over-month sales growth since January 2009 despite the unrelenting dire state of the car market. Based on a comparison with April of this year, sales for the month were up seven percent, representing the best monthly sales result so far in 2009 for the German auto maker.

Boxter/Boxter S sales are holding up YOY. Cayman sales are getting killed, particularly the Cayman S (942 YTD to 342 YTD).

The C2 and C2S are holding up with last year. Turbo cab sales are in half, but turbo coupe is down by less than 1/3 YTD.
