hawk or padig pads
I've also been researching pads and have decided upon the Pagid Yellows (RS-29). The guy from Rennstore knows a lot about Pagids, and his prices are competitive. I was concerned about Pagid's statement regarding using only new rotors with their pads, but I've been told it's not an issue.
While I don't claim to have much knowledge about race pads, there is a difference in max operating temperature between the Hawk Blues (1,000 F) and the Pagid Yellows (1,292). A more comparable Hawk pad might be the HT-10's or DCT-60's. Pagid details the pad coefficient of friction on their website. I couldn't find this level of technical information on Hawk's site, which bothers me.
Here is the Pagid Yellow info:
Friction Level
Cold 0.40 At 100°C 0.43 At 300°C 0.47 Max at (@ 550°C) 0.49 Constant working temperature: 400 – 700°C
Max temperature for short period only: 750°C
While the Hawks may be less expensive to purchase, will they last as long and be as friendly to the rotors as the Pagid Yellows? Pagid claims that although the Yellows are pricey up front, they are less expensive to operate than comparable pads from competitors. Something to consider.
