Turbo or C4S?
Florida has a lot of tracks (Homstead/Sebring) and these guys buy em to race .
Plus the new Gt3 at 130K or so is a bargain . A low mi 07 is still 90K . It's not a 70K price disparity like with Camhabibs car and the Gt3's do hold value. Plus the new Turbo has so many engine changes in ranging from a Dfi engine to its PDK .. it's the first non gt1 Turbo in 16 years or so . 160K is a lot to put on the road when the risk is that high and the former car depreciated so badly . Why be the first to get it when the stakes are that high?
Turbo, its a great all around car but i am biased.
Last week at the track in Jupier FL it amazed me going down the 6/10 mile straightway at 145 mph and breaking at the last minute to 50 mph to make the turn. What a car.

I would have bought a 2007 C2S that had 2400 yes 2400 miles on it but the owner got cold feet.
Having said that this is my first new car since 2001 and there is something about that new car feeling (and smell).

I would NEVER buy used. Ever. Period. I know the depreciation hit is taken for you, but it takes a certain kind of person to trade a car in after less then a year, and I've found more often then not, they don't care for their cars the way that they should be.

The first mile you drive on your new car --it's used .
I understand yoir sentiment to some degree but with the markup on the new 997tt pitted against the depreciation of the last model .. the price gap is big enough to re examime the position .
The Turbo (Ferrari/Lambo) markets are somewhat different than typical cars . Some guys will blow 25-35 K to drive a car for a year and get that novelty out of his system but isn't ready to cough up 100 K to have the car 5 years (depreciation /maintenance/insurance/repairs) .
Also one of the first items to go in a finacial crunch is a high end car . When the economy tanked there were lots of Turbos for sale . Even a few 997S cars too . It doesn't mean that the cars are bad . They had to sell them . It's not like buying a Honda where the car is a transportation necessity . High end 150K Porsche Turbos are less common and more of a toy than a necessity -even though emotionally one can't help but love his car.

I can understand buying new...but when a 1 year old Turbo can take a 40k hit...poof...one might consider it as an option.
I found my 06 C4S CAB with 3000 miles on it and it was kept in a garage and used on weekends when the owner was at his summer house, the car was and is(sold it last week) cherry. 45k of depreciation was taken for me and I drove the car for a year and it cost me next to nothing to have a years time behind the wheel as far a driving Porsche is concerned.
You can find 1 owner cars that were taken care of better than most children
..but seriously...many Pcar owners have OCD when it comes to their cars...if the car wasn't tracked and has a clean DME scan, low miles...a prosche is probably the only "exotic" type car I would buy used...I'm going to buy used again...looking for a turbo.

One big thing I'm worried about on the 997TT is turbo lag. I've had it on previous cars, and while I didn't really experience much on the only short test drive I've taken with it, I'm not sure how it behaves under all conditions.
No one feels the C4S would be a sportier / more accurate car then the Turbo? I for some reason have this mental image of a Turbo being this soft cushy luxury car, while the variants like the C2S are more of a sports car. Perhaps it's because that the Turbo comes with so much superfluous stuff extra, while the other variants can be ordered so stripped down.

I understand the "used" part, but I think I'll take a chance on a 997.2S over a new car once mine is paid off.

2) The C4S is also a luxury car . It's simply an UNTurbo in many ways.
3) The hard edgy car really is the Gt3 . The 2010 car will not take a modded up Turbo on the straight line run but it will carve through turns with a precision that is superior to any other 997 ever made.
I've previously owned a 996 and a 997.1 C2 and both are phenomenal cars. That said, I just bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago and bought an '09 Turbo Cab. I can tell you without a doubt that driving the Turbo is a completely different experience. The amount of power/torque available is just out of this world. The acceleration is simply mind boggling, dare I say addictive. Auto manufacturors in general come a long way with minimizing turbo lag, and it's really not at all like it used to be 10-20 years ago. It's barely noticeable in my car, and the overall raw power that becomes available when the turbos kick in totally outweighs any negatives IMHO.
