Notchy when getting into 1st while cold w/ OEM short shifter
That is part of the "character" of the car, the only way to cure it would be to remove the SSK and go to the standard or GT3 shift console. The GT3 console is interesting, it's the standard shift console, but the bushings are billet aluminum instead of plastic.

My basic question is: "Why hasn't Porsche come up with a transmission that doesn't have this notchiness?" If others have done it, why can't they?
According to the official Porsche position, burning as much as 10 quarts of oil between changes is also "normal". So, take the dealer's statement for what it is....BULL****.
I guess the 95+% of owners who have a shifter that works smoothly should bring their car in to have the notchiness put in so their car's are NORMAL too.

Maybe when the VW 997's hit the road, they will get better quality of service.

My 08 without S/S had this problem. I complained (well, nicely...) and left it with them overnight. New gearbox needed.
Despite what others say just because it's common doesn't make it right. You should be able to select gears manually in a manual car.
