Frayed,

Go for the 997S! When we drive these cars, it is basically for the enjoyment we get out of it, and nothing more in my opinion. For me, when I was no longer enjoying the turbo, it was just a total waste of money just sitting in my garage and taking up room.

Werd.

Forget objective performance numbers. Forget this and that techno feature. What we are buying for damn near 100k is a driving experience that is supposed to light your fire.

Oh now I'm more anxious for the 997TT to arrive based on all of your feedback on the dynamics of the 997S vs. 996TT. In my other thread, I read hints of the 997TT coming earlier than expected as in 2005 rather than 2006. That would be great timing for Porsche in the midst of all of the great vehicles surfacing next year including the 500HP+ Z06, F430, etc.. I hope your thoughts and insights validate a 2006 997TT coming in Fall 2005!

I don't own a Porsche yet and have never owned one either, but just reading your posts on the comparisons between the 997 and 996 makes me even more crazy about the 997.

I was at the dealer and I had a ride in one. I did not want to drive it as it was raining cats and dogs and did not trust myself driving this beast!

It was an absolute blast!!! The sales guy obviously had taken some performance driving courses (just like a lot of you guys) and he drove it as if he was completely unaware that it was raining so heavily. He drove it so fast around a bend onto the highway, I was screaming inside my head getting ready for the crash that was inevitable. Needless to say we did not crash and those 295 cm wide rubber in the back were just glued to the road!

Absolutely incredible. I could not believe how safe the car felt in pouring rain!!! I absolutely loved the active suspension and the sports chrono package!

I have a somewhat active suspension in my car and on the soft setting it felt exactly like the comfort setting in the 997. Incredible car. I could not even imagine how much better a C4S will be if the 2 wheel drive model is this stable.

I gotta have one of these beasts ........................
