Have you had any problems with your 997 Turbo?

Just want to hear from some owners of 997 Turbo's if you have a moment.

Have you had any issues with your car? Random examples: altenator replacement, electrical system failure, oil leaks, things in that realm?

Not, tire replacement or burnt out light bulbs.

I am mostly curious what you guys have to say on this.

If you could post the year, length of ownership, and how many miles you have, that'd be neato.

Thanks!

You may get a better response if you try posting in the Turbo forum.

I had a launch car 997 turbo for 2 years and sold it after 25,000 miles - absolutely reliable- only problem was a small oil leak from a incorrectly sized part that was corrected after the launch cars. Not nearly as much fun as I thought a turbo should be. MUCH happier with my '09 C2S

Purchased 997 TT on July of 2006, and as of 03/2013, I only have 18,000 miles. However, it did have major issue. Around 15,000 miles, it had Pressure Plate failure. with car engine being idel, it would not go in to any of the 6 gears. It would only go to gear with Clutch pressed. Only think that I did was, i left on the RPM of around 5,000 rolling on the freeway for about twenty seconds, before I hit the Dead stop due to So. California Traffic. My car was sitting Duck. I had to tow it to the Downtown LA Porsche, which they quoted me $4,000 , just to drop the transmssion to see what's wrong with it.
I pulled it out and took it to INDEPENDENT shop, and the shop initially said, it may be the BENT Fork . When everything was replaced, except for the Dual Mass Flywheel (it was nearly new condition, as well as the Clutch), we found out that Pressure Plate had crack on Three Different places.
However, Porsche had revised the part with new part number.
I have heard many GT3 owners with earlier 997s have the same problemes. other than that and two of the TPMS Sensor's not working, I am very pleased with the car.
Of course, you will need to get new Rear Tires every 10,000 miles, even if you drive fairly normal and have fun once in awhile.

Sorry, I was asking why you think the C2S is more enjoyable than the Turbo?

Was drving about 80 Mph before I down Shifted to 4th and left it there for twenty seconds, with holding the gas pedal. However, there was a traffic Jam, so I pressed the clutch, and disengaged the gear to Neutural. Engine was on, but however, the it would not go in to the gear. I was sitting duck on 101 FWY in Los Angeles until the AAA came to rescure me on their Flatbed.
See the attached pictures, where it cracked. YOu may be able to see the part number of ths Pressure Plate, they have been revised it since then.
I did find few people had same problem with early 997 GT-3s.
I hope this helps.
