Accept or reject this "moment" deal on an 09' tomorrow?
Hello all,
Newbie here. And likely to be 997.2 owner. I have to call the dealer tomorrow morning to confirm.
The dealer offered to sell me the car at 5.5% off msrp, but..with a 56% residual, not the customary 57% on a 12k/year 36 mo. lease.
They want to move the car in August - tomorrow. I'm in a lease for another 2 months. I'm going to tell them I'll take it tomorrow IF they give it to me for 6% off msrp ($432.00 less) and at the 57% residual. If they refuse, I'll take it in September on the terms they're offering now and save an additional month's lease payment.
is 6% off an $86,444.00 base Carrera expecting too much? 911 sales are in the toilet right now. The dealer will loose an additional $850 on the corrected residual. I'm not trying to beat the dealer to death, its just that I have a monthly limit in mind and this is what is necessary to achieve my number. The dealer promised me my number and then reneged after I was approved b/c they didn't know the current program's leasing and cash back incentives can't be combined?
Do you think they'll accept my offer tomorrow?

I just purchased an 09 C4S for around 15% off sticker. I'm not sure how, or if, there is any pricing difference between a lease and a purchase, but 5% doesn't sound like a whole lot right now.
good deal
apparently porsche is offering 12k off all wheel drive 911s. But only on a purchase. Since I'm taking the leasing incentives, the cash back ($10k on 2 wheel drive 911s) doesn't apply.
Enjoy the new ride.

The deal I got was not using any kind of incentive offered by Porsche, as I was still able to receive the 1.9% financing. Others have received similar deals, again, unrelated from the incentives. I'm sure others will chime in, but dealers are desperate to move inventory, and 5% seems a bit low to me. Best of luck with the deal tho.
I'm not a lease expert as I usually buy, but my first thought after reading your post is wait until end of September since you still have time left on your existing lease and Sept will not only be end of month but end of quarter for them. They will be even more desperate to work with you, but you run the risk of less inventory to choose from. Good luck!
I have never seen a Porsche lease that I liked . Present the full breakdown .
Keep one thing in mind -- a base 997 is an entry level 911 and has tremendous sales appeal for that reason . It eats up market sare from 997S buyers who are bargain shopping as well as Cayman S buyers wjo reach for the 911 .
In short .. it's one of the harder 911 cars to negotiate.

agree...and for that reason they will accept his offer
lets hope they do
One detail I did not mention is that I was not approved on tier 1.
They are offering me the .00146 money factor, but they said they wouldn't go a penny below 5% off msrp b/c they can't use a separate program (not "the moment") that would have been available if I had better credit.
Who knows if that's true. But right now they're either selling me the car for $500 less than their best offer or it goes off the table.
I'll post the outcome.
Thanks for the replies. This board is great.

Not that I'm a lease expert, but the residual works two ways. You either get a lower residual, which allows you the lower purchase option, but I believe you really want the HIGHEST residual possible. You pay the depreciation through the payments in the amortization of the car through the difference between the price and the residual. Hence, the lower the residual, the higher the payments. All I know about a lease is that you want the lowest payments possible. Period. That is accomplished through the best possible combination of lowest price, lowest money factor and highest residual. My 2 cents.

Add in a significantly lower hold back on the base cars and you get this as well. I am seeing 15-20K off highly optioned cars out here, specifically cabs and 911S's for purchase. But they are offering this and the 1.9%.
Nothing but ~5-7% on the standard 911's.
I wish there were some demo Caymans kicking around I would love to pick one up with a good discount and the 1.9% as I am almost car less right now.
Yes!
The dealer agreed to the deal, but after cutting my day short to get to the dealer on time with my wife and daughter...the car wasn't ready to go. I signed and they are delivering the car to me tomorrow.
I'm still in disbelief. I'm a 911 driver now! And my monthly is less than a $100 more than my 550i lease!
Thanks for the feedback. I'll post pics tomorrow.
