What engine oil to use for a topping-up a new car?

Quick question here,

I just reach 1200 miles on my new 2009 C2S today. While I was cruising on the highway @ 80mph, the exclamation point poped up on the dashboard and it showed an "check engine oil level" message.

I believe that would be an indication to top-up the engine oil because engine oil gets burnt up during break-in?

What kind of oil is put into the car from the factory? I would think it's best to top up with the exact same oil?

Thanks in advance!

Not that you need a third, but why would you put anything but 0-40? That is what the car calls for and that would be all I would recommend putting in.

Well.....it's what's already in the car (if new)......I'd say that would be the best reason for you using it at this time....yes, Porsche endorses it.
There are differing opins on whether it's the very the best oil avail today for these engines......but that would be different topic.
