Recall Clearance - Easiest way to get it ?
Recall Clearance - Easiest way to get it ?
Hi,
I'm importing a US 997s to Canada and the gov ask me for Recall clearance in order to pass inspection.
Problem is local dealer ask 1250$ to print the doc (with "free" oil change -yippee-)
According to www.riv.ca i have 2 other options:
Contact directly either Canadian or US Porsche headquarters or check online on Porsche website..
Any suggestion of what might be the easiest/fastest ?
thank you

When you run a carfax it shows that if there are any open recalls with the manufacturer.
If not it shows the following message:
08/31/2009
Porsche Cars North America
No recalls open for repair
A bargain compared to what you've been quoted. Not sure it is good enough for your import needs, but worth a shot.

In the process of importing my 997S to Canada also, Carfax will not work...I tried that with my Cayenne S back in February. Call a dealer in the States and give them the VIN, they will give you a printout that you can fax to RIV. Did that on Friday and got my form the next day!!
Your dealer is trying to screw you, don't even bother!!! Canadian dealers get pissed off if you buy a car in the States...but too bad, until they can offer their cars for the same prices in the U.S they will continue to lose out!!
If you need any help, feel free to ask. This is my second Porsche and 4th vehicle in total.
