Joining the club with a Targa 4!
Well, after months of research and planning, I finally have it.
I spent the past 3-4 months researching my new purchase heavily. I decided I wasn't going to buy a car like this and drive automatic, so I bought a old beater to learn stick on. In the mean time, I scoured cars.com, autotrader.com, and eBay day and night to get a feel for the different options, prices, etc.
Having driven Toyota's all my life, this was a total 180. I actually liked the Targa from the beginning because the glass top makes it a rare and unique vehicle, even among 911's ... and the AWD felt like it would be a little safer for me as a daily driver.
I disliked the idea of red at first ... but the Targa I eventually bought was such a great deal ... and after going to the dealership, I found the grey metallic colors to be mostly just black to the untrained eye and Guards Red grew more and more on me. Cobalt Blue would have been my first choice, but no way was that happening used.
Anyway, I closed the deal and have been waiting for a couple of weeks for the car to get here, which it has. My friends who didn't like red at first changed their minds completely once they saw the car. Seeing it in person just inspired smiles in everyone who saw it. The folks who I let take a spin in it were even happier. I'm looking forward to getting to know this car over the next few years!
Thanks to DeMoise trucking for doing such an awesome job shipping the car, thanks to this forum for all the great information, thanks to the guy I bought it from for being possibly one of the nicest guys I ever met (he literally flipped the keys to me when I flew out to look at the car and said take it out for a spin and bring it back when you're done), and ... well, I don't want Kanye to take my mic, so I'm gonna stop and get to the pics!

What a tool (Kayne, not you). Congrats on the new purchase. You have yourself one unique ride.
Guards red is definitely the color to go for
It really hides the dirt on bad weather (yes I do driver every day, every weather
) Just fyi, the targa tends to make some noise because of its roof, so dont mind it too much after a few miles. Enjoy your ride and welcome home!

Congrats on the new ride. I've always thought the Targa's were really cool. Enjoy the new toy.
