mstams is infamous around these parts
The whole thing really has me puzzled. I just wonder why a manual shift from 2-1 in the Sport mode doesn't produce the same compression increase. And why now does it seem to be going away? Seems funny to me. More to come as I add more miles. We'll see if it really is gone or just a fluke.

IMO this is due to a PAG design decision to optimize performance shifting to 1st, for example to shift to 1st on a fast tight hairpin and power quickly from there. They decided to design for performance instead of luxo-box smoothness. The latter would be actually easier to do, just coast in second, clutch and only engage 1st when dead stop. I prefer the performance design as I consider my 911 a sports car...
Sport auto is not exactly all that "sport" . It's real nice for a lively drive but it still will find gears before I would sometimes . It's a computer and with that it's biggest flaw is that it can't predict the driver . That's why there are paddles because at some point the driver has to intervene . The 2nd to 1st jolt is an example where the computer wins. The avoided money shift is where everyone wins , The quick shifting acceleratin is where the driver wins.
Nothing is perfect . PDK does have room to improve .
