My guess would be they all had IMS issues. This was apparently addressed to some extent in the 06+ models.

Bought mine with 30,000 and it's at 33,000. I have not had any issues and neither did the previous owner. The switches are fine.

It went at about 40,000 miles. If anyone is buying a 911 I would insist on getting a rev range test done by the dealer. The ranges go from 1-6. Any over revs will be recorded. Range 3 is normal, but 4 is boarderline, 5, and 6 is bad. 5 and 6 is an automatic warranty void. I had a miss shift in the range 5 which caused the IMS to leak. I fought long and hard but Porsche said it was human error and that there would be no coverage. Cost me $18,000CAD for a new 08' motor including a new clutch. But I gotta admit, the car never felt better.

My 2005 C2S

Love my 997 S. Purchase it over a year ago with 7K miles and now I have about 11K miles. Not one problem!!! Love bring it to rally and car show. I have done some mod to it like Cold Air intake and a full Fabspeed exhaust out and ECU. In the spring time I am looking to do a face lift to the front bumper and rear. I am thinking about putting the new 2010 GT3 wing on the rear.

I had so issues other than rear back up sensor (or parking assistant). It kept running once I put it in reverse. The dealer had to fix/reset it.

No problems with my '05 Carrera S Cab. Have 40,000 miles on it now...original owner. Drove it up to Jackson Hole for use as my summer car there.

almost 30k miles and no problems drives great. These cars are crazy solid and I have a Cab. I know BMW cabs a yr old that squeak and rattle. P Cars are wo a doubt a DD car no matter which model you have.

My first major issue happened about a month ago. I was driving 45mph and the car just randomly shut down. Pushed it over to the side and tried starting it, the engine cranked but no-go so it wasn't the battery. Had it towed to the dealership, turns out its a Alarm Control unit failure AND clutch switch failure. Not sure how both happened at the same moment but it did anyway. Car was out of warranty but Porsche still paid out half of parts and labor.

Just sold my '05 997S and did not experience any of the wear many on here have pointed out. In fact, the interior of mine was unbelievable for being 5 years old. The car was fantastic mechanically.....My only complaint with the car was the number of constant rattles/sqweaks in the dash, passenger door panel and passenger seatback. Drove me f'ing crazy.

yes, runs about 10 mins slow. seems to be a common complaint. replacing the battery did not help.

It's been about a year since purchase. At purchase it had just under 30k miles (CPO). I put about 4k on it so far. The car has been flawless! I've done a few mods including H&R springs and full AWE exhaust. I'm planning on doing the aerokit this spring.

Not on a downshift. Someone might downshift way early, or blow a gear selection and nuke the motor past redline.
