997.2 6 spd sport mode question
997.2 6 spd sport mode question
OK-dumb question, Does sport mode on, but w/ pasm off, change the power? It feels like it does somewhat, but its not obvious. If not, whats the purpose of the sport button?
My butt dyno tells me it makes the throttle more responsive. I have the manual open and it claims:
PSM is sportier, e.g. the intervention threshold is higher.
"The electronic accelerator pedal reacts sooner, and the engine is more responsive to throttle inputs." However "this function is activated only after the driver has floored the accelerator pedal or released it briefly." (emphasis mine)
"The rpm limiter characteristic is 'harder' i.e. the engine is immediately throttled when the performance limits are reached..."
It reminds me of the "M" button on my former M5 although the difference is not as pronounced.

its all throttle response, no additional power..
my 6sp with sport on, is quicker on the gas with less throttle.. and also makes shifting a lil easier and smoother, as when u get back on the gas it gives it just a touch more than you usually would and makes the gear transition smoother.. at least for me.
basically pushing "sport" just changes the throttle by wire inputs into the computer. i like it but to do it again i wouldnt have bought it because the PCM stuff is pretty much a joke.. and it really doesnt do enough to merit the price..
i do like the wart tho
