Tire Tread Comparison

Since I was in the process of my winter tire change, I thought I would post a huge example of tread width difference in tire types. No, the picture isn't the front and rear tires. The lower tire is a 305/30-19 Bridgestone RE050A tire on a 19X11 rim. The upper tire is a 295/30-19 RE960AS Pole Position tire on a 19X11 rim. The width difference should be only 1 cm, but you can see it is much more. This will happen even more between different makes. Just something to keep in mind when you change tires and use wheels with aggressive offsets. Good to really see a car running the combo you want to use in order to know if they will really fit.

WOW, that is almost funny! I wonder why bridgestone puts those silly numbers on the side to indicate width!
But, your point is well taken, I have measured roughly a 1-1.5 CM difference with the same width rating, but different manufacturers.

I just got Hoosier R6.

The front is 245/40/18 and it is a full inch wider than my Kumho V710 245/35/18 on 9" wheel.

The rear 315/30/18 is about 1/2" wider than the Kumho V710 305/30/18 on 12" wheel
