Wipers and windshields

[quote=jeff618;2840146]I use Aquapel Glass Treatment (along with Trico NeoForm Beam Blades). Its a great set-up. The Aquapel treatments last 6 months and the rain rolls right off. It looks like the pictures in the post above mine except the whole windshield beads and you can't see the wiper lines like above. Above 45mph, you don't really need the wipers at all. Aquapel + NeoForms is the best set-up I've ever had - got both online.

++ on Aquapel over RainX. Cosco sells Aquapel in a four or six pac also for those of you near one of those stores.

My '06 C2S needs wiper blades..streaking badly and just loud. I don't like the 'look' of the OEM blades. Anyone bought Valeos from Tirerack?

+1 on this. when i had my windshield replaced, this was the set up the pro recommended. very happy with it. i will test it again today as i drive up to watkins glen through heavy rain in NY.

and it is AcquaPEL not AcguaGEL. a completely different product.

I installed the Rain-X curved blades and have been happy with them.

I have used RainX on all the exterior glass on my cars for years and during heavy rain at speed you don't even need wipers. On rear and side windows it sheds water quickly improving your outward vision a great deal all around. If you have never used it it is definitely worth a try and don't ust apply it to the front window as it works tje same on all exterior glass.

OEM has the right curvature for the passenger side so they lay flat - not sure if all the aftermarkets do.

I replaced my oem with Rain X fusion blades: http://www.rainx.com/mobile/products...es/fusion.html

They work great, the OEM made a heck of lot more noise. And as DADIO said using rain x on the glass is a big help, though it's been years since I've done it.

I installed the Valeo wipers last month. So far, they work great. Most new wipers work great for the first few months. I am a little dissapointed that Valeo's plastic connection to the wiper arm wasn't slimmer (more aerodynamic looking).

I noticed that the 991 has some very nice looking wipers.

michelin wipers

I put in on the Michelin wipers a few months ago. They wipe very well - good contact with the glass (except for lower passenger side - which all aftermarket blades miss). They were cheap. I like them better than the Valeos which were more $, but the Valeos did have a nicer looking installation (the end of the wiper arm was nicely covered - whereas with the Michelins they're sticking out).

The 991 finally moved to the new style blades. Wonder if they fit 997s? Although the windshield in the 991 has less of a curve (less 911-ish)

Problem with the factory blades is that they go inside of 6 months.

Real world report. Driving up to Watkins glen (site of my avatar) through heavy rain in pa. At 50mph, rain collected in droplets. At 60 they began to run off the window. Over 65 the wipers were useless the water was running off the window so fast. At 85 the window was clear, even in heavy rain.

Funny, once I got to WGI, it is cloudy and dry. SUPRISE.

The trico neoform beam blades work well in all conditions. Unfortunately they don't fit all Porsches so you have to look them up for make, model, year. If they do work on your vehicle, you'll like them.

I also combine the neoforms with this stuff called trico view glass treatment. It really makes the water bead and roll right off the glass...similar to the previous post - don't really need wipers depending on exactly how clear you need the glass. By the way, they advertise that trico view treatments last 6 months and that's absolutely true. I didn't see any dropoff in performance for 9-12 months but then again, its a garage stored non-daily-driver.

So it appears as tho there are no aftermarket blades that sit flush like the OEM ones do on the passenger side. If that is that case (as I am **** and hate that) I will just continue to use OEM even tho I am well aware that other blades do a better job.

So if people can post about fitment to the windshield and not just if they work that would be awesome!

See I dont get that...

Presuming that Suncoast is correct there are literally hundreds of thousands of cars that would use the same exact wiper blades. So why doesnt someone made an aftermarket setup that is correct???

I doubt the aftermarket guys want to offer more vehicle specific blades especially for low volume cars like 997...but Bosch seems to have 997 specific sets -
