Why I bought a Porsche
Why I bought a Porsche
Perceived negatives before acquisition: too flashy (I am in sales), not enough hp, so so body style, engine trouble rumors, not enough room (I have 3 kids).
Shortlisted Car:
-Cadillac CTSV...mainly because I used to own a vette and I loved it.
Hypothesis of decision criteria stack ranked: 1. Fast (with 0-60 being most important) 2. TCO 3. Handling 4. HP
After driving the CTSV it scored hightest in all 4 categories (exception of handling of course). BUT...after driving the Porsche, my thinking shifted a bit:
1. Dont' care what prospects/customers think anymore
2. Corvette owners can have the 0-60
3. Bought it used...I'll use my savings for any repairs
4. Kids can stuff in the back just fine...
5. Funny how I am now convinced I own the finest looking car in the world
As most of you can tell from my initial decision criteria, I'm at the beginning of the "car maturity curve." My journey in sophistication is just beginning - I assume my epiphany would make some of you proud!
3 weeks in and still enamored...

As far as sales...I firmly believe that could go either way. I am in sales, and the way I look at it, it shows your a fantastic sales person who has earned the right to your customers, retained them and earned tons of referrals. That could show the net prospect, "wow, this person must be great at what they do and I can trust them." Think about it...in sales as a career, you don't continue to make the big bucks by ripping people off....they don't come back...you make the big bucks by taking care of the customer so they return...

I'm glad you've decided to join the club. I believe there are faster cars out there (and cheaper than ours), but the experience is just so different in a way that's difficult to explain that you're just drawn to the Porsche. Enjoy.
