Thanks for the great shots - you've got me excited for our first real accumulation here!! And I switched from the Sottozerros to the Michelin Alpines this year, so I am happy to hear your having fun with them in the snow!

Will try to post same when we get a good storm...
Yeah keep us posted on your experience!

here's a pic. not even a 911 can get out of snow when you slide backwards into a DEEP snow drift... "call for the Cayenne"!

Wow !!! I haven't seen snow in 30 years . Seen the cold .. but no snow.
Nice photos -- it's actually quite a beautiful sight to see fresh falling and i'm not sure how happy I would be driving my Porsche in it . Even if you can handle the driving what about the other cars on the road ?

I also have an '06 C4, & had a similar experience driving home to Seattle from Texas where I picked it up. Two blizzards in Wyoming were tense, but managable until the the roads were closed. Then we just holed up @ "Little America" until they were reopened. An amazing car.

This whole thread is very encouraging, especially this last. Actually, I expected answers like this because I'm an old timer, and forty years ago the stereotyped image of a Porsche coupe was with a ski rack on top, headed up a white mountain.

We drove our NSX in one of the rare snowstorms here in the high desert. Despite the Summer Michelins, the only serious problem was the people manuevering on the freeway to take pictures of an exotic covered in snow.

The ability to excel in all conditions is one of my criteria for a 'serious' car, as opposed to a primadonna, however pretty it may be.

I remember reading that the later generation air-cooled 911's had no side scoops like the NSX and the turbos because they relied on NASA ducts in the underbody streamlining panel. (Not the correct word, but I'm tired.) I suppose the rear deck intakes would be enough air flow for normal power levels? If the snow plugged the underbody ducts I mean?

I'd much rather have relatively compact snow and ice than salted roads. The car does great in snow. Salt, over time, will put years on the car.

Good point. Calgary doesn't use much salt. If you do expose the car to salt, make sure that you wash often.

Quick update:
Don't let snow in wheels turn into ice, it really throws off the balance of your wheels

Stood around for 10 minutes at the gas station chipping away at the ice on the car, got funny looks

Are there any engine cooling/overheating issues with the snow packing into the front air intake areas? Or do you get enough other air flow and low outside air temp. to overcome the blockage?

Yes, I moved. This was just on arrival.

Anybody having experience with Porsche ski rack whistle please? Any solution, besides buying another one?

Makes me feel guilty for living in South Florida where it has been in the upper 80's for the last couple of days.
