Any of your friends get 997S fever ?
even worse, I have friends who go gaga over seeing my porsche, and as soon as I start explaining DFI engines, brakes, and other 911 attributes, their eyes glaze over and they become completely disinterested! For them, it is the image that gets the blood pumping. Truth be told, I simply don't understand THEM!
People like this are usually never happy with anything. You see ... once the novelty of the brand is over then the Porsche is really just a car to them. An expensive car !!! But no different than any other car .
ever since I bought my ex-997S in 2005, everyone around me got infected.
first, my younger brother traded in his 996TT for a launch 997S, later he traded again for his current 997C4S.
my middle brother took over my 997S when I acquired my club coupe.
then my father-in-law bought a 997C2 out of nowhere....
subsequently my friends bought 997C2S, C4S, turbo, C4Scab, .2C2........

I've encountered lots of friends that have never sat or ridden in a P-car. I usually let them sit in it and rev the PSE. And if they're really excited at that point I'll take them for a ride. It's nice to give them the 'itch'.
OP...
I've definitely got that fever!
I actually thought you were talking about me.
I went from a Honda Accord to a BMW 330Ci Cabriolet (current) to hopefully a 997 911 C4S or 911 Turbo. This should be an epic jump?!
To me... A Porsche has always been my "#1".
Funny because I have never been in one or know of any friends that own one.
I recall the first time I saw one was in the movie "Bad Boys I" back in 1995. Ever since then, I was hooked. I read & read articles, blogs, brochures, watched movies & documentaries, anything Porsche pertaining.

I never would have thought of the possibilities of owning a Porsche until I moved to Canada from the Philippines.
My status back home voids any merit of even owning a Honda.
I am just waiting for the right time to finally purchase one. That should be soon (within the next 3-4-5 years).
Perhaps until then you can take me for a spin.

I DD my C2S, and love it. PDK makes daily driving a joy without giving up the any performance. It took me a couple of years to make the jump to a P car even though I've always wanted one. I almost did it last yr as the entire world economy was falling apart. I got side tracked by a Lamborghini Gallardo, which I love but is not a DD. As I started racking up miles on the G it got very expensive to drive a ton, so my lady convinced me to get something fun to drive during the week and use the G as weekend car. I thought that car was going to be an AM V8 Vantage, until I drove it and found it to be a little lacking in the power department. Being the awesome woman she is, Jen said get a 911, put the baby seat in the back and don't look back. Well I bought my C2s Dec 24th and my only regret is that I did not do it a lot sooner.

I don't know if I can handle watching Charlie Sheen though.
It's not worth your time. Terrible movie, not worth seeing not even for the 911 shots.
All these movie talk... I'm going to do a Bad Boys Movie Marathon.
Go to Youtube and plug in 'Porsche'. Most of the amature video clips are way more thrilling than what you see in the movies ...well...... except for the pack of black 911's in "Condorman". That movie was pure genius, even when dubbed in Czech.
