p40 monoblock HRE Wheels
i agree you lose the beauty of the p40 with an all black wheel - for that look i'd just save some dough and get the stock wheels painted black (which the porsche dealer in HK offers for ~us$1000 all in)
on the p40s with the pint stripe lip - anyone have opinions (and hopefully photos) of gloss charcoal with a white or silver pint stripe lip?

Since you asked...
Agreed with your choice if your main concern is looks and you don't care about sacrificing handling and ride quality.
If you care at all about driving dynamics, then there is one choice above all the rest. Forged Alloy Tech-1's in 19" size, not 20".
Light, strong, beautiful.

Bling or performance is your choice.
If you own a Porsche, then you should be well aware of the effect of rotating mass, unsprung weight, and wheel diameter have on handling and ride quality.

Stock Tires (PS2's) on the Turbo
235x35x19x8.5 (or is it 19x8?)
305x30x19x11
no spacers.

Are HREs lighter than the Porsche factory wheels or does everything just buy them for aesthetics? Does BBS make the factory Porsche wheel?

21lbs front
24lbs rear
I think these numbers are lighter than the stockers but Im not sure by how much. Remember Im comparing my wheels to turbo wheels not 997 wheels.
I forgot who makes the stock Pcar wheels but its not BBS.
HRE wheels are indeed lighter than Porsche OEM wheels, although I'm not sure by how much. As far as color choice goes, get what you like most. Personally, I love darker wheels when paired with silver, black or white cars. I have charcoal textured HRE P40's on my GT Silver Turbo.
size
do you guys think i am going to lose performance if i get these in 20inch? I feel like they should still be lighter then the stock wheels. and they will be a little bit wider front and back so i should gain so more traction. What is everyones feelings on this?
You will lose performance, rotational mass and inertia play a role in acceleration, braking, and other factors. The larger the wheel, the larger the weight is spread out. You will also have to run a smaller profile which reduces sidewall size. I have 20 inch P40's on my M3 and they run about 24 lbs in the front and 25-26 lbs in the rear which is slightly lighter than the forged stock 19's that came on the car (M3). The Porsche wheel might be lighter based on the amount back pad that the wheel has.
The P40's are a lip free wheel so they look bigger than wheels with a lip/dish. IMO if you are getting a wheel with a lip then a 20 might be a way to go but 19's are optimal with the face forward style.
19's are always better IMO for performance. You saw my car on the previous page, the wheels size to me is spot on.
I would look at the ADV.1 monoblocks before buying. These new ultra concave give a better look to the old P-40 design. I have P-40's on my Porsche but happily went the ADV.1 monoblocks on my R8. But the P-40's are always a great wheel.
I got some of their ADV10.1's and love em. Extremely strong and lightweight, and maybe look better. But not in black. You can't see blackwheels! Its just a big black hole where the tires go.Try titanium or charcoal or brushed finish.
