Of coarse there will be more pressure in te combustion chamber,( only when bost is present) but HOW does that by itself make the engine's lifespan "somewhat short"?

So, based on your theory, car's driven exclusively in Denver will last "somewhat longer" than a car driven only in Miami? The car in Miami has more pressure in the engine than the one in Denver.

The ONLY risk to the engine involved with increasing the effetive compression ratio 996 engine, is detonantion. However, this risk is eliminated with proper tuning and cooling of the intake air. If you want to boost the engine witout proper tuning and air cooling, then it won't be the compression that wears out the engine, but the burning of holes in your pstons.

I'm not even going to bother, go ahead and think that supercharging an 11.8:1 engine is perfectly fine for the engine, and it will last forever.

By your theory, I should be able to run 2 bar through my engine no problem, as long as it's tuned correctly. Well, on 91 octane I would burn a hole through my pistons. Even on VP109 I'd destroy my rings over time.

Has anyone even done a leak down test on a SC'ed 996? How much timing are you guys having to pull to prevent detonation?

No problems with leakown and absolutely no usage of oil. Timing is at 21 - 22 at WOT and 6800 rpm. So you see, like I said, a PROPERLY tuned SC engine can easily handle the increase in pressure. I currently have an maximum effective compression ratio of about 16.3:1. Piece of cake for the engine.

Well, I'm glad it works well, but frankly I just don't see how it isn't hard on the engine. How much boost are you running, and what octane?

Yes. EVOM is the best and is very conservative with his tuning.

The stock boost of the EVO SC is 6 psi. I run 93 octance. The EVO tuning is set for 91 octane.
