Sport Plus Shift Points

I normally drive my C2S in Sport Mode, and have only tried Sport Plus while already moving.

Today, I popped it into Sport Plus while at a stop. I didn't try to launch the car, but rather take a spin in Sport Plus mode to get a feel for the responsiveness and see how it compares to a stick.

I immediately got concerned because it seemed as though the car wasn't going to get out of 1st gear. It revved to about 6500-6700 rpm before I manually upshifted (actually found good use for those buttons).

I'm pretty sure it doesn't require manual shifting by the driver, but that the driver can shift if so chooses. I do know that if you place the car in Manual Mode, but don't shift for 7 secs, then it will revert back to Auto mode.

My question is: at what point does the PDK in Sport Mode upshift?

I don't own one, but thought in Sport Plus it shifts at redline.

After Googling, I found this:

The second new function is the ‘motorsport-derived gearshift strategy’. Using this, Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is geared up for the shortest possible shift times and optimum shift points for maximum acceleration – ideal for the racetrack.

Propofol is infamous around these parts
With PDK and Sport Plus, shifts are made at redline and 7th gear is locked out.

Before ordering my 997 last June I also test drove a Cayman S. They insisted I try a PDK car even though I told them there was no way I would even consider PDK. He threw it in "sport plus" mode and I clearly remember the shift points being between 7100 and 7300 depending on which gear it was selecting. The Cayman S I was test driving was a demo with less than 100 miles on it and I remember thinking to myself, geez, this engine is getting reved really high before it's even broken in.

Sounds like a fun test drive...feel sorry for the guy that bought that car though.

Sport Plus shifts at redline in D mode. In M mode it's up to you.
