Fabspeed cold intake installation

Thanks in advance for any help. I bought the Fabspeed cold air intake and tried to install yesterday. It was a fight to get the thing in position. I was half afraid I was going to break the factory air box. Anyway, when I did get it in place it did not fit well. In fact, it seemed too long because the bend had a wrinkle. I was a little worried about it so I took it off. Anyone else have a similiar issue? I do not know if I should try again or try and send it back. You hate to put anything on your car that doesn't look like it fits!

I would expect you contacted Fabspeed, what did they say?

Yes, it does seem long, but it only fits one way (I assume you have the red smooth tube & red cap). I went thru same agony. The air box has a little flex and as I recall, I attached to airbox first, then you have to rotate the tube a bit to get it onto the engine inlet and push the tube FULLY on. Make sure you use a flashlight afterwards to make sure it's on snug. It's worth it.

It frustrated me too. Moving the airbox around during the install helped.

Have you considered sending it back and upgrading to the new "competition" carbon fiber intake? Just installed mine a few days ago... definitely a better sound.

Would heating the silicon tube up with a hair dryer and/or using a little silicon lubricant inside the hose help?

when you had it on, did you hear a noticeable audible difference, any butt dyno gains felt?

Thanks for those that responded. I actually did not even start the car. I wanted to check with some folks to see if it was normal to have to fight this thing into place. I thought about other intakes, but I did not want to take out the factory airbox.
