Teaching them young, just a silly post
I so cant wait for our first track day
when I was 11, My dad let me drive to the bakery early one Sunday morning. We lived in a small town and it was in our 1981 dodge omni. It was all back roads except for one left hand turn at a set of lights. Sure enough as I'm making the left on the advance green there is a police cruiser at the lights on the other side of the road. I made the turn without incident but I think my dad almost soiled himself. Just this past weekend we laughed about that very incident.
If ever you can take an opportunity to share a memory with a loved one you will never regret it. I can't wait for our first track day together.

That is great! I have the same memories as a young guy with my dad. Just don't look forward to him getting a DL too soon; my 17 y.o. pulled out of the neighborhood last week into the path of a passing car(he said view was blocked....). Damage to 2006 325I previously with no paint work? $13,500. It looks like it's going to be expensive to get him out of college and off my budget with a DL! Let's hope that was the last 'accident'....
haha, I let my 18 yr old bro drive the 911

It is so easy to be a hypocrite when replying to a post like this. Just keep in mind that it’s also his life and your job as his brother to keep him safe. Sounds like you should give that boy a track day gift!

I let him drive the SL550 in the neighborhood but I am rethinking that after the 'minor' accident. I told him not to even think about driving the Porsche! 31 years driving and avoided accidents myself. Hopefully insurance company will not be too unkind....
Reminds me of sitting on my dad's lap steering a farm tractor on a private road shared with neighbors. My dad was a car guy, and allowed me to buy a car when I was 14 and drive it to the mail box. Only a few months later, the neighbors voted to put in speed bumps.
My 6 y.o. daughter is keen on my Porsche, and always disappointed when we take the Range Rover instead. I'm relieved - I thought she would prefer the view from the RR but she likes the cozy back seat of the 911. She hasn't yet touched its steering wheel, but since she was 4 has been allowed to steer the rental car on a private drive when we visit Vermont in the summer.

I love it!!! I have 2 sons (3&5 year olds). They love riding and sometimes steering the P-Car and my other cars around the block. They always point out other porsches on the road with excitement and my younger one is so obervant he knows the difference between the rear end of a C2S or a C4S. They are car sicko's just like me. Could not be prouder.
Dave I'm trying to stay innocent here
I have no idea who was driving that Lambo.
