ironically, porsche's rms problems started just about the time porsche stopped racinig. you will find bmw in f1 among many other racing venues whereas porsche has been pumping out V6 peppers instead.

Reliability

I know, I know. Having spent the last twenty years getting up at 4:30 in the morning to watch F1 I'm familiar with BMW's heritage, and yes, I wish the P-boys were still in racing like they were too, but my point still stands. Keep in mind BMW has had their own set of problems related to engine reliability in F1. I guess nobody's perfect huh?

not too mention their overly cooked POS S54 motor in the E46 M3.

Until they released the 997, the M3 was every bit the equal of a 911. The apparent difference is that BMW finally took responsibility for their problem. Porsche seems to think its OK to saddle their loyal and sometimes diehard customer base with this ongoing issue.

I had a friend in town the last week who was looking for a 911 and told him to either buy a CPO car or shell out another $2500 for an extended warranty. It may be smart and prudent, but not something I feel ought to be mandatory with the purchase of such a "well built" car.
