Keep in mind they're still making about 3% plus 3% holdback on MSRP.

Get the car and don't look back, nothings gonna happen to that motor. The only item I would have checked is the clutch.

If you want to take a bit of a risk, wait till the end of the month and go in with your check minus the 10K. I'd be willing to bet they take it. They will want to book the sale for January.

Interesting update guys. Since I coordinated with the dealer on Sunday, he noted that the mileage was "approximately" 900 miles. Now that he is back in the office, he has confirmed that the mileage is 1,450 miles. An interesting stat, just playin' with the numbers:
- Total mileage: 1,450 miles
- Car in dealership: approximately 4.75 months
- Therefore, miles per month: 305
- Length of test drive: approximately 15 miles (as indicated by dealer)
- Therefore, test drives per month: 20
- Test drives to date (TDPM x 4.75 mths): 97!!

I know I'm not counting dealer miles, longer drives, etc., but WOW!, that's A LOT of test drives for potential abuse to take place!
Shoot! Now I'm moving from "I like what I'm seeing," to "more questions / more doubts!"

Sneaky,
If there's one car that is meant to take it, it's this one. I wouldn't bother with worrying. Instead, use the new mileage to your advantage - push them down 10k instead of 8500

Sneaky - your calculations are probably a tad bit off, because the owners and managers of the dealers probably used it as a loaner on a few occasions.
Bottom line is that you'll have to be comfortable with the thought/truth that is wasn't broken in and babied in the same way you would have, had you bought the car new.
One thought. Test drive another new one for two things - to compare clutches (to see if the one you're interested in feels mushier) and to see how much leeway the dealer gives you to push it. If the dealer doesn't give a crap if you redline the car etc , you can safely assume that the c2s got similar abuse.
All of these cars will depreciate. You're just $10K ahead of the curve.
If you like the car, I say go for it.

I know you can do better. I could of bout the lanch car months ago with no miles for a bigger discount. Didn't want fist month production cars. This will hurt you in the flip side. No one wants to buy a used first month production car.

But you are right that better deals are available.

All new Porsches depreciate fast and as a poster stated earlier you will be almost $9000 ahead which is just about the loss once you drive a new one from the dealer.
Sneaky,
The car has never been titled and is being sold as new, so you would have the full 4 year warranty minus the 1450 miles.
Also don't worry about first month production, it dose not matter if it was first , second or third month production, who cares, they all go down the same line, that won't effect resale, who even asks what month the car was made when they buy a used car?
Go for it....

I would get it. Although 900 miles are driven hard.
There is another school of though. Some believe during the break in time you should drive the car you will drive everyday. Which should be aggresive since it's a sports car.
Fact:
a friend of mine has a m3 and he red lined the car several times in break in period along with driving aggresively during that time. When he dynoed his car later, he found out he has one of the strongest engine as it producted one of the highest hp and tq. to the wheel of any n/a m3s.
it's ur money, u should decide.
I would get it.

Sneaky,
Other's are right about it's your money. If you can't wait then go for it. All I can tell you is I could of got a launch car for substantially more off than you can. The 900 miles is not that big of deal. I had a 1st/pre production 99 996. I had the usual issues like others, but I should have waited a little longer to some of the bugs out.
