Spilled nearly a gallon of milk in passenger footwell, need advice on removing part
Hi All,
So I thought I'd start buying local milk a month ago . . . the kind that comes in glass bottles. I'll bet you can guess what happened next!
Oh well, such is life.
Luckily the bottle broke while I was in a parking lot right next to a car wash so I was able to get a lot of the milk vacuumed up within 5 minutes. That said, the car still ended up stinking to high heaven within a few days.
As of this weekend, I have been able to get almost all of the milk out of the carpet, but there is still a bit of odor coming from the seam/gap along the left edge of the footwell (front passenger seat), where the carpet meets the box that houses the footwell a/c vent.
The box seems like it would be easy to remove but I don't know how to do it and I'd like some advice in removing it so I can clean under it (to hopefully eliminate the last of the spoiled milk stench).
Thanks in advance for any help!

I can't say for certain how this will work on milk, but having got a puppy about 4 months ago who has peed liberally on the floor, carpets, rugs and even in my 2nd car (not the Porsche!), a product called Nature's Miracle works really well. They sell it at PetSmart/PetCo type stores in the Boston area. Just looked at the label and it claimed it worked on all kinds of odors not just dog pee. Good luck!
Thanks MB! I appreciate the advice and actually purchased a very similar enzymatic cleaner last week. It helped a bit but the best option (so far) has been to rent one of those steam cleaners (Rug Doctor) from my local supermarket, dilute the cleaning solution with white vinegar (as per advice I found online), and clean the heck out of the carpet.
It seems to have done a really great job - although my car smelled like an Easter egg for a few days! LOL - but I couldn't get the cleaning wand into the space under the box I mentioned earlier. I think that's the last repository of the dried, stinking milk and I'm hoping that removing that part will let me clean the last of the milk up.
Thanks again!

It's absolutely amazing how these forums are checked for references and opportunities...At the bottom of this thread regarding the milk and containers there is a website for container and packaging.com for reference...
