grand-am racing...
racing engines are voodoo, thy say 450horses but they do not say what they did to it inside.. i would not assume it has much of stock stuff left in it. who knows, anyway, who knows. anybody can get stock mustang on a dealer lot and drive it, then get stock 997 car and drive it and compare. no stock mustang can outrun 997 car, so, if it happens in a real race then there is something more into it i would assume.
New Mustangs have run 12.6's @ 112mph while a few have hit 116mph in the 1/4 mile..don't underestimate the Mustang. Give credit where credit is due...the new Mustang is actually a hell of a car for the money.
Mustangs are like a box of chocolates..you never know what you are going to get..

interesting discussion... i think it's cool that casey and matt hav a direct link what's going on in the series... i'll be watching for the caymans...
i think it's also pretty cool that if we wanted to (i'm not that hard core), we can get the same suspension set up used in the grand-am cars for our own personal use...

Exactly.. it was the Koni Challenge before the Continental Tire Challenge.

Dave07997S, I was under the impression and the announcers actually talked about this on the Speed Channel Saturday re-play or the Watkins Glenn race that is Mustang engine is not available yet for production cars. They said it is still under development and only being used to race with right now.

Mike that was on the older FR500C Mustangs. The 2011 Mustangs that are being run as the Boss R's are using the new 5.0L powerplant. Granted, there are some chages with the intake manifold to make that kind of horsepower (450) while the 5.0L Cammer motor is making around 400hp. Keep in mind the new 5.0L motor that is being sold right now in the new Mustang is 412hp..it is available right now.
The current 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L powerplant at 412hp..
