997.2S PDK check engine light at PCA DE Day- dealer unsure of issue

So, my first DE day, I did something very stupid and got the dreaded check engine light.

- I was sharing my car with a friend so it was doing double duty. (But hey it's an 09 and it should be able to take it, right?)

- I was stupidly driving with the PSM on (the car is a PDK and I had it on sport-plus).

- After about 60 minutes of driving, I smelled a "burnt rubber" (or burnt something) smell. The check engine light then came on. At this point, the car starting bumping whenever I pressed the gas.

- I reduced my speed to 30 MPH and took the car in. Instructor's friend, a mechanic, said to turn PSM off, restart the car. It then ran fine.

- A few hours later (PSM OFF this time) on the track the CEL came on briefly (2 secs) then turned off.

- Car has run fine since then.

- When plugged into the computer (at dealer as the car's under warranty), it showed:

-- misfire on cylinder #5
-- valve lift control cylinder #5
-- issues with CAN communication.

However the dealer mechanic said, the issues were not "present", they had just happened at one time -- and the engine was running fine now. He said since it was fine right now they wouldn't do anything but if it started running funny or the CEL came back on, to take the car back in.

Is this pretty normal? Anyone else get any issues like this with the new DFI engine? Should I be worried? Funny thing is if I didn't know the computers could find these errors I probably wouldn't care about it at all since the CEL is off now... the green machine brings out my **** side, apparently.

My engine does burn a qt of oil per 1k miles or so, but apparently that's within the normal range.

p.s. it was my first PCA DE Day and I am now completely hooked... just upgraded to porterfield R4S pads and put in some Castrol SRF... at the next one I can go faster
