Newbie in need of some practical advice

In the market for a 09 911 S pdk to replace my 08 750li daily driver. In the summer I usually drive my 89 560sl. Can I depend on the 911 to be my daily driver( for about 80% of the time , in bad weather in NJ I plan on using a Jeep). Is this practical? I usually drive about 50 miles round trip. Thx

I have had my 09 C2S/pdk for 16months driving 1k (hard driving)miles per month with no reliability issues at all. There was a study done, I think JD Power, that rated Porsche the most trouble free car maker in the world. I also had a 750 and was bored to death with it, porsche is not boring!

Yea kind of feeling the same. Despite having the 08 750li sport, it's a bit underwemling. Don't really need such a big car.

Mine was the sport and Li model also, but the length of the car overwhelmed the good suspension. And I ended up driving such a big car all by myself most of the time, we took the mini-van mostly when we were all together.

This is my only car and I frickin' love it because it's such a usable daily driver while keeping the daily drive a thrill.

It's a huge difference from a 750 to a 997S . It can be a DD but circumstances where you need to take passengers or park at the movies is not quite the same . Despite the cost of the two cars .. the BMW seems to attract a lot less negative attention .

I woild get rid of both the jeep and the 750 , get the 997S and lease a 328 short term . Then you'd be set.

I live in NJ and feel that the all wheel drive of a C4S is esssential for the NJ weather.

I'm in NJ also.

When the temp is below 45F I would leave the 911 at home. But above that I think the non-C4S is fine.

Or you can change to winter tires and drive a non-C4 whenever. (As long as the snow is not too high. )

Thanks, dont really think I'll need the C4. Really dont want to drive such a beautiful car in bad weather. I'll prob just get a 4x4 Jeep type. Anyways just listed my 89 560Sl. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...#ht_500wt_1182

unless it will be your daily driver, all year round, the c2s will be fine.

Heck yeah!!!!
I have 44k on mine from daily driving. Only problem I have had is an ignition coil went out and had to be replaced ( under warranty). The only down side is sometimes I have to go to work very early in the AM and one of the hospitals I cover is very far out in the country so I get a lot of anxious country police following me closely trying to figure out why a 911 is out there at such an odd time.

Yes. I would recommend getting a set of winter tires (also, if in the budget -- a set of wheels, too) for the colder temps and snow.

I just came back from a 10day 4200mile trip in mine......and only 1/2 of that was on the road. Car ran perfect. (And this was from Georgia to Sedona AZ and back). And I'd even mention that part of that unfortunately in Oklahoma was during a 2hr storm that was more like being in a car wash with the water and blow dry at the same time..........again, the car was always planted....no hydroplaning....nada.......
