Smile New Porsche order help

This is my first time placing an order for a P-car. What kind of discounts can I hope to achieve with the order or do I expect to pay MSRP? I was planning on ordering my first 911 in a few weeks or so? Any advice or past experience would be much appreciated.

Send your order specs to multiple dealers and let them compete for best price. With sufficient savings, it might pay to buy one in LA area.

Are you ordering a custom P-car or will you also consider buying one off the lot? Generally, the discount you get will be greater for buying off the lot. When I was looking at new 09 CaymanS in 2009 (of course that year had the unprecedented trunk money), I was immediately offered a discount of ~12% off versus ordering my own for ~8% off before bargaining. And I agree with keninirvine that LA has a LOT more selection to choose from (and also more dealerships) and thus the discounts may be better.

You have a better discount chance buying one off the lot and yout best bargain right now is a 2010 car before July 31.

Otherwise the discounts on an 11 car will be slim in comparison . They have an entire year to sell those cars and won't be as quick to discount. Plus you will have to leave a deposit and if things change they have your money and you have no car and a big headache . I suggest getting everything from the percentage discount to a timeline and a refund policy right on the contract in writing . Also keep in mind that if you order an unusual color or a highly customized car .. they will want a bigger deposit . Can't blame them either --they don't want to get stuck with a car that is hard to sell if the deal fails.

Very good advice. When I ordered mine (a 997 in 2005) it was the new body style, the newest hot thing and I had to pay sticker for it. By the time the car had arrived, several months late Iwas walking past other 2005s on the lot with 2-3K discount, to pay sticker for mine. I felt like a sucker. When I complained about the late delivery they gave my 1K off.
