intercoolers

I have a question about the intercoolers.
I currently have my car scheduled with Porsche dealer to install the Tubi regular exhaust and GIAC tune. So, my question is this. If I put new bigger intercooler, it will be done at $3100 drive out instead of $3500 later. What does intercooler do? Do you guys have any experience with this? Any rec. and advise is welcomed.

When air gets compressed by the turbos its temperature rises. The job of the intercooler is to lower the air temperature once it has been compressed so as to increase its density, thus being able to enrich the air/fuel mixture by being able to burn more fuel for a more potent explosion and resulting in more power. Someone correct me if I am wrong... it's been 18 years since taking Thermodynamics while studying Engineering at the University. Hope this helps! If I am right, please, some rep points!

intercooler

Thank you for your clear and detailed explanations. I am leaning toward to have dealer also installing intercooler along with Exhaust and GICI Turner. Perhaps, I can get my 07 997 Turbo to 570 HP from 480 HP.
I don't know if I will be able to tell the differences.

I have intercoolers in my Turbo . The purpose is to keep the car's engine at ideal cool temperature and when the car pushed with modifications it can heat things up . I also have the Tubi exhaust . In fact I began with the Tubi regular exhaust and switched to the Tubi race version and it is soooo incredible !!!!

My first set of engine mods were intercoolers , intake, exhaust , software . The big step was upgrading the Turbos and changing the clutch to accept the 700 hp . That made all the difference!!!!

You did get the part here where someone subtly let you know that you're posting in the wrong forum, right? Congrats on the sweet car, but I am leaning toward to have you posting in turbo forum. Dasvidaniya.

David,

I am sorry for accidently posting on the wrong model forum. It wasn't intentional. Is there way to remove my old postings. again, I apologize.

It's kinda nice to see a Turbo post wander its way in here every once in awhile.

Even though you'll have more feedback in the 997tt specific section --all these cars are part of one big Porsche 997 family .

Congrats on the car BTW.
