I have an e90 6 spd right now and think it is a fantastic car. It is NOT a 911 nor will it ever be, but that is not the point.

It is as close as you can come to a 4 door track car and makes a great compromise for those of us with kids. It has short comings just like any other car because they are ALL compromises. Overall it is amazing that BMW built it for the price. It has higher piston speeds than most F1 cars and enough TQ to spin the tires into second gear. It is not a light weight track car, but it is going to protect your kids during an impact better than most cars on the road.

Don't talk so glowingly about how the M3 works with kids. I have convinced myself I can manage 2 kids in a 911 and I don't want to start doubting myself.

My 2 boys, now 6 & 8 loved the Porsche. They also had a fondness for my 2004 M3, they love daddy's new M3. You can manage 2 kids easily for short distances.

The M3's torque was insane to you?

Congratulations! One of two things will happen:

1 - You are a true 911 guy who is going though a different marque experimentation phase, and soon you will be back. Been there, done that.

or

2 - You never got what a 911 really is and you will never look back.

Either way, you will be happy!

Thanks - I actually think that I am a Bimmer person and that the Porsche was an experiment. I had nothing but BMWs since 1999 - the M3 will be my ninth and second M3.

Saw the sale on the other forum. You 911 was a beaut and you made the chap very happy.

All the best with the M3...its a beast and while IMO not a 911 its still a great high end performance car.

I am the chap who is very happy and bought Troy's 997S!

Troy is the type of person that all of us would want to buy our cars from. Honest, an enthusiast, and is even more **** than most of us (relatively speaking) in keeping his cars pristine. There is something special dealing with someone who is like us. I am real pleased with the purchase and meeting the seller and his family. And I want to be on his short list when he decides to sell his next toy in 2 years! That M3 will be special.
