Ive been using an electric leaf blower on my Harleys since the late 80s after seeing it in use at a local HD dealership. Made immediate sense, why bother towelling off water spots when sooner or later, you will pick up a grain of sand and leave a swirl mark. Gets the "hard to get places" with ease.

I particularly love the leaf blower if I pull into my garage after getting stuck in a south florida rain storm. My black 997 is so clean and waxed, a quick "blowing" off of the water and I usually dont even need to touch up or hand wipe any water spots. Its as if the car never saw rain.

No reason to ever towl dry a vehicle when an electric leaf blower can do the job in a few minutes!!!

I'm using a B&D electric now and it works great. Seems that two batteries do the car and wheels real nice.

Now........just as an fyi........many of those electric units (well accept for the "blaster" models) you see at auto places are actually dog hair dryers that have been re-branded. Try looking them up specifically and you'll see some decent prices.

You can pick up a Troy Bilt electric leaf blower at Home Depot for about $50 (maybe a bit more now, since it's been a couple years since I bought my last one). It also works as a vac, which I use to clean up leaves in the fall.

I've burned out two leaf blowers in the past 20 years - mostly blow-drying my bikes (down from nine to three - had to make room for the 997). It works perfect on the P-car as well.

Not to worry about your neighbors.. If they look puzzled, tell them to think about the last step before their cars come out of the local neighborhood car wash - a 'blow-dry'.

Did anyone even read the links to the article about Kurt Browning burning his house down like this? I'm surprised there have been no comments. Lol

I use this Metro Air Force Blaster since day one. I kicked myself in the nuts for not having used it on my previous cars.

I find that I spend a lot of time chasing water droplets around the car taking forever to get it right.

Can anyone have such a mundane life that a man would actually "show this thread" to their wife? Do you "pause" your current Oxygen network love story, to do it or just casual dinner conversation?

Just curious, maybe I'm just not a communicator but I can never imagine my life where !-I would show this thread to my wife, and 2- She would actually care...................

Cmon now,

"You can act like a man! (SLAP)"......Don Vito Corleone to a crying Johnny Fontaine in GODFATHER...........................

Never considered it like that. My wife both enjoy ownership of our vehicles. She is on her own forums. In fact, she's the reason I joined this one. Being as she does more maintenance on my cars than I do (she is the only one who has changed the rotors/brake pads on my car thus far - not even the dealership has touched them), I felt she would appreciate this, and possibly get a chuckle out of it first.

I believe that you if understood about the wife, before assuming about the husband, it would be pretty clear why communication is important in their marriage.

Can anyone have such a mundane life that they feel the need to project on an online forum, or openly concede that they have inferior communication skills with their spouse? Or admit that they have an interest in a hobby that their spouses don't care about? Or is it possible that he/she is jealous that the spouse likes cars almost as much as he/she does? ... Possibly doesn't have his spouse go with him/her to track events, telling him/her that the car understeers in turn 1, but is stable through the esses...

So many assumptions... You would've been better off keeping your mouth shut, or your keyboard quiet.

edit: It's my wife's attraction towards Porsches that keeps me coming back here in the first place.

I use a gas powered leaf blower on my Z06 with no problems ever... sure the gas powered one can blow a little oil in the air... but who cares? Once my Z06 was washed/clayed/washed/polish/wax... after drying, I just use some detailers spray which removes any slight oil residue from the blower.

I don't see why some guys are so **** about this?
