PDK in 'Manual' w/ Sport Plus On -- Shift at redline?
Today at autocross, I decided to shift my 997.2S PDK car manually. So, Sport Plus is ON, put transmission in 'M'.
For the first few runs, I shifted into 2nd gear manually at around 6,000 RPM (a little early, I know, but then I had to go into a turn and just wanted to get the shift done so I could concentrate).
On subsequent runs, I tried to hold it in 1st gear a little longer. To my surprise -- she shifted into 2nd gear on her own when it hit the rev limiter.
Now this really surprised me.
In fact now I am almost doubting myself, did I press the button without knowing it? Anyways, I thought when the PDK was in Manual mode, it would just cut off power at the rev limiter, and 'hang' there until you shifted it? Certainly that has been my experience in the past. However, 1) that may have been with the car in 'Sport' mode, rather than 'Sport Plus' mode... 2) And in those other instances, I wouldn't have been 100% flooring the accelerator... so those two variables changed this time -- I was definitely flooring it when it shifted.
Still -- surprised me that it shifted. Anyone have any insight into this? Anyone else experience this? Am I taking crazy pills?

Even in manual mode, if you push the kickdown tab on the accelerator it will automatically shift. As you said you were flooring it so im guessing u had kickdown engaged. If you want it to stay put in manual then u need to press on the accelerator but avoid the kickdown button.
Cheers.

You can feel it when you push down on the accelerator. Try it with the car shut off. Gradually keep moving the accelerator and you should feel a "click" by the very end of the pedal travel. Thats the kickdown tab.
1st this is all cover in the owners manual.....for the lazy guys here....
When you press the throttle down and do not click the kick down bottom under the throttle pedal the car will not upshift in Sport Plus mode. It will just bounce off the rev limiter.
When you press the throttle all the way down and press the kick down button under the throttle pedal the car will automatically upshift at red line for you in sport plus mode.
