x51 Upgrade VS. FabSpeed Bolt On Upgrades or Similar - 2008 Targa 4s
I agree with mmatrix if you definitely wish to have a Targa. Of course, the change will cost you a lot due to the depreciation on yours, but if you're lucky, you might find a depreciated 09 somewhere to help offset that hit. I bought my first Targa4S (07) for $30k less than the original MSRP, with only 5k miles and less than a year old.
I agree with Northvan997 too. Take your current car to some driver training and autocross events, and you'll see that it has more power than you need already. The problem with adding 20 or 50 hp is that you will likely not even feel it. To get any really noticeable increase in raw power, you'll need a supercharger or turbo kit for over $10k installed. Then you have to weigh the warranty issues. But I did ride in Justatoy's car after he added his supercharger, and that car was fast.
When I had my Targa I put on a sport exhaust, X51 headers, and high flow cats. It sounded great, but I can't say that it was actually any faster. I even purchased a used VF supercharger, but then decided I didn't want to install it and sold it (you can sometimes find used ones for around $5k, like I did).
Good luck, but make sure you really need a lot more power before you start spending a lot of money on the car. These cars seem to feel faster as the miles go on them, especially around 20,000 miles in my experience with having 3 of them (997's).

Oops. You're right Ed. Your car is fast too. Not the raw pulling power of Stacy's added HP from his SC, but very quick for a NA C2S. (A little sensitive are we? LOL)
But just to be clear...it was a modified supercharger..
