Dreaded Check Engine Light.....

First off, I would like to thank everyone here for all the knowledge that has been provided. I have been a long time lurker and bought my first Porsche (2005 997S) 15months ago with the knowledge I gained here.

Today, the check engine light came on as I was in traffic, car ran fine all the way home (15miles). I then went straight to 6speed for some insight. After reading some threads here and on rennlist. I deceided to go put some gas in the car. Gas was low and i wanted to see if resetting the cap would cure the problem. The car would not start after I filled the tank!!!! Wouldnt even turn over actually.. After a few mins of trying, the car did manage to start. Ran really rough at first, but managed to idle fine after a few mins. Drove to get it back from the gas station.

This actually coincided exactly with a thread I read on rennlist..... Ill try to find that thread and post it.

Its going into the dealer tomorrow, and is still CPO'd. I've read about various solutions to this same issue, so determing what is wrong will be difficult without a code reader. Just wanted some reassurance or if anyone has heard anything more about this.

Any addtional info is welcomed.
Thanks for all the support!!

Definitely post your findings, it'd be interesting to see what's the cause of this.

Took her to the dealership this morning and waited for them to read the code. They came back in 15 mins and said the error was due to a small evap leak, probably gas cap related. They just cleared the code and told me to let them know if it happens again. Drove her spiritedly all the way back home (20miles) with no issues. Thought i'd let everyone know.

Having a code scanner ($100) buys a lot of comfort in situations like this.
