Remote Starter for 997 manual (6 speed)

I found an old thread that had not been posted in since Feb of 09 so I figured I would start a new one in hopes to get some more attention to it.

I come from the Subaru world and there is absolutely a legit starter that looks to see if the car is in neutral and bypasses the clutch switch.

So to get rid of any other useless posts…
1 – It is cold in the Boston area in the Winter and since my car sits outside year round I DO NOT want to start my car and then leave it to go back inside while it warms up. That would be asking for it to be either stolen or rummaged through.
2 – You will NOT hurt your car by letting it idle for 10 min prior to operating it. I am not going to redline that car right after I get in, I know oil pressure has to be up as well.

So, if anyone knows of a particular starter or how to go about getting what I am asking for done…please let me know.

thanks
phil

What you don't want to hear I guess: Start your car, put on the seatwarmers and drive off slowly. I know that is less then no help to you but we all know what happens with remote start. Where's my soap box.........?

And that is the entire purpose of a neutral detector. They are built in for remote starters for Subarus and many other cars. If there is not one for the P-car oh well and then yes a stupid idea to get one. But when setup correctly that would never be possible.

Hey gloves,
I used to work in Waltham, now in Cambridge. I don't think I'd use the remote starter myself, but it the concept definitely seems interesting. Is the Subi product aftermarket?

To the best of what I remeber you can get it facotry installed on a manual. Lots of aftermarket places wont do it because they dont know about the neutral lockout.

Why would you not want to. I think a lot of people who have them have a garage, which I do not.

Fast cars and cheap rent...all i'm gonna say.
