C4S order - still in PDI!!! :(

18 days ago ago my dealer called and said "I looked at your order it arrived last week the US. It's in PDI status!!!"

I got excited and planned on 2.5 weeks +/- for delivery.

Today he called and said it's still in PDI status. So next wednesday my car will have been in the port/PDI status for 4 weeks.

I'm 4 states away from port so even if it hops on a truck today it will be a month from port to dealer.

Is this normal? Oh well it will be here eventually.

My '11 C2S arrived at the port a few days ago and based on previous experience, I expected to be here next week. Dealer won't promise that because for some reason they've been trickling out pretty slow. My leased car has to be returned by 11/23 and I was told that I should be alright. Hmmm.

They better hurry cause there's this R8 V10 spyder calling my name

Hmm...that's a little unusual. My M3 arrived was at port and arrived at dealer around a week.

Go to the range and hit some *****. Your feet look too close together and a bit of a flying elbow.

Hang in there. We are still like kids on Christmas eve sometimes.

Everyone says that about my avatar. That's not me. That's Geoff Ogilvy - Titleist PGA Tour player.

The media doesn't erect tents when I'm on the range But I have been on the range all week breaking in my new Mizuno MP-63's. They are like butter!

THanks though!

My 2008 M3 hit the port in CA and was in my state within 8 days also - back in 2008. Weird.

PDI is a scary place. They also take the opportunity to repair any dings and such that might have occurred from the trip overseas. A long spell in PDI makes me uneasy.

Pre-Dealer Inspection I assume. Basically it's port of entry in the US for foreign-built cars.

"A long spell in PDI makes me uneasy"

If you're concerned, when the car shows up have the dealer do a paint thickness analysis on the car. They have a pen sized tool to do this on cars that are traded in or returned at end of lease. It takes just a couple of minutes to do - the paint thickness in repaired areas is different than factory paint.
